This month is all about that plant that most people love to hate: Ground Ivy. Also known as Gill-over-the-ground, Runaway Robin, Creeping Charlie, Hedgemaid and many more names, this perennial creeper loves to take over bare patches of ground and will often choke out anything in his way.
The great thing about this plant is you can harvest the aerial parts to dry for making teas, oils, tinctures, vinegars and honeys that can all be used in a variety of ways. From helping those with tinnitus, toxic metal build-up, digestive issues, hot, wet coughs and the respiratory ailments that come with them, to conjunctivitis, wound healing and bile issues, this herb is great to have lots of on hand!
We’ll explore the many uses of Ground Ivy through fun stories, songs, games, activities and more in this month’s issue of Herbal Roots zine.
